
DISPUTE RESOLUTION MECHANISM AT LAPS

Based on the Financial Services Authority Regulation Number 61/POJK.07/2020, since January 1 2021 an Alternative Institution for Financial Services Sector Dispute Resolution (LAPS-SJK) has been established which functions to provide integrated dispute resolution services in the financial services sector. LAPS-SJK was formed to provide protection for customers so they can resolve their disputes out of court with easy, fast, affordable access, and are handled by competent human resources in the financial services industry.
The LAPS-SJK adheres to the principles of services that are accessible, independent, fair, effective and efficient and are trusted by consumers, the public and financial services businesses. In the financing sector, the LAPS-SJK was previously the Indonesian Financing, Pawnshop and Venture Mediation Agency (BAMPPVI). Similar to BAMPPVI, LAPS-SJK also functions to handle customer dispute resolution that cannot be resolved through an internal dispute resolution process (Internal Dispute Resolution/IDR) at each finance company.
